How to Apply for Direct Entry (DE) into Universities
Having acquired any of the above-listed Degrees, Here is how you can easily kickstart your Application for Direct Entry (DE) through JAMB into any preferred Nigerian university.
- The first step is to visit the nearby JAMB Office (JAMB CBT CENTER) to buy the Direct Entry (DE) form.
- Fill out the form and submit a copy to the JAMB officer.
- Keep a copy for yourself for reference purposes, and
- Make a duplicate of it which you shall submit to the Institution you selected while filling out the JAMB DE registration form.
Important Note to all Direct Entry Candidates:
Before selecting any Nigerian University to start your 200Level students (as a DE student), you should first check if the Institution you’re seeking for admission sells their Direct Entry form separately from JAMB. Some tertiary institutions, especially Nigerian universities in the South East such as Ebonyi State University (EBSU) have started accepting Direct Entry application directly.
This means if you purchased the JAMB Direct Entry Form and did not buy from the university, you may likely not be offered admission into the academic institution. This is why you must try buying a Direct Entry (DE) application form directly from the institution if the school sells it, instead of buying it from JAMB.
After buying and registering the DE form, you will be required to participate in a screening exercise with other JAMB candidates. DE candidates who scored up to their selected institution cut-off marks will wait to check if their name appeared on the school’s Admission List by checking the school Website to know when the list is out. (However, take note that some institutions do not conduct external examinations for DE candidates).
Final Conclusion on JAMB DE Registration.
Finally, I’d advise you to make sure you strictly follow the instructions given by JAMB or on the Direct Entry Brochure before filling out and submitting the DE registration form, as some avoidable mistakes can prevent you from gaining admission into your preferred Nigerian University. This is because most Nigerian Universities do not conduct external exams for Direct Entry (DE) applicants.
